Keystone, 19 December 2005
OK, this is the famous River Run, the only skating rink with a something degree angle. I HATE THIS RUN. It is a bloddy ice rink. Almost everyone at Key will end up going down this. I have skied this area for 26 years. I took this picture, the Durcum Mtn side, which 26 years ago was the only part of Keystone. As far as the Durcum Mtn side, I was a bit pissed. The only groomers are the green runs, where if you go fast, you loose pass. I didn't find a sweet, easy going BLUE groomer at all. I found lots of unprocessed snowmaking mounds. Loveland makes better snow in far less time. I opened my season on Lovelands Mambo. Three weeks after snowmaking began. While I dig the Outback, Durcum just isn't it. This late in an epic season, and this is the best they could provide. Sad. Sad indeed. Leave it to Vail Associates.
